Route 66 Vehicle Accident

On Friday night August 14, 2020 at 11:47 p.m. Ward 6 Firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle crash in the 800 blk of Route 66. Ward 6 responded with Rescue 1, Rescue 2, Engine 5, and Engine 7. Upon arrival of the first unit, one occupant was trapped in the pickup truck. Firefighters worked with the Jaws of Life to extricate the patient. Ward 6 Service 8 responded to the 600 blk of Route 66 to establish a landing zone for Acadian Air Med. The victim was airlifted to Lake Charles Memorial Hospital.
Houston River FD was dispatched to stand by at Ward 6 Fire Station for any other calls while firefighters worked this incident.

Three other occupants of the vehicle had minor or no injuries.
