At 8:59pm on April 13, 2022, Ward 6 Engine 7, Service 8, Unit 901 and 903 with 9 firefighters responded as automatic aid to Ward 5 Fire District (Starks area) for a reported structure fire.
Ward 5 Fire arrived on scene and found multiple structures fully involved with fire and updated responding units.
Ward 6 apparatus was utilized to establish water shuttle operations for water supply. Firefighters assisted Ward 5 personnel with extinguishment of a mobile home and several other structures located on the property.
CPSO advised personnel to be on the lookout for the property owner that was unaccounted for. After extinguishment of the several fires, search operations were conducted and unfortunately firefighters discovered one victim and 2 deceased dogs.
Investigation of this incident has been turned over to Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal.
Ward 7 Fire District and Deweyville TX VFD also responded with personnel and apparatus.
Acadian Ambulance assisted with medical monitoring of all emergency personnel.
Calcasieu Parish Public Works responded with a mini excavator to assist firefighters moving large sections of metal during overhaul and search operations.
Ward 6 firefighters were released from the scene at approx. 2:45 am and returned to the Ward 6 Fire District.
