Firefighters from Ward 6 Fire responded to several calls on 6-23-2022At 3:01 pm, Engines 5, 15, Service 6 and Units 902, 904 responded to a fire alarm at a church on South Grand Ave. Crews thoroughly checked the building and determined it was a malfunctioning alarm.

While finishing the fire alarm call, at 3:28pm, Engines 5, 15, and S6 responded to a car fire in the 3500 blk of Oakwood Dr. Initial dispatch advised the car was close to a residential structure. Houston River Fire Department was requested to respond mutual aid prior to is arriving on scene, in case the structure was involved. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fully involve car fire and there was no damage to the residential structure.

At 11:05 pm, Engine 5, 19 and units 902 and 904 responded to a reported vehicle crash on Route 66. Upon arrival, it was determined the driver was not injured; however, the truck had struck a large oak tree that fell across the vehicle and blocked the road. Calcasieu Parish Public Works was notified and the provided heavy equipmemt to remove the tree from the truck and roadway so the truck could be recovered by the wrecker service.
