Vehicle Accident

At 3:06 pm, Ward 6 Engines 5, 11 and Units 901, 902 responded with 6 firefighters to a vehicle crash on Hwy 27 at Sam Dunham Rd. Upon arrival, firefighters utilized extrication tools to access and remove patients from 2 vehicles One patient was transported by Acadian AirMed and one patient transported by ground Ambulance to local hospitals.

HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT was requested as mutual aid for this incident and responded to assist with extrication and provided a landing zone on Hwy 27 for AirMed.

DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department Chief Johnny Copeland arrived on scene shortly after the accident and was assigned as incident command while Ward 6 and Houston River firefighters accessed the patients.

Fire trucks were utilized to block the road so law enforcement could investigate and wrecker services could remove vehicles.

Hwy 27 was reopened at approx 5pm.
