Ward 6 firefighters have been busy today

Reminder, if you are burning grass or leaves on your property to have adequate water supply and maintain watch over your fire at all times.

At 12:07pm, Ward 6 Engine 7, Service 8, and unit 901 with 8 firefighters responded to a mutual aid request from Beauregard Fire District 1 for a house fire on Hubert Smith Rd. in Singer. HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT was placed on standby for Ward 6 Fire District.

Firefighters assisted with extinguishment and water shuttle operations.

At 1:25pm, Ward 6 Unit 904 and Brush 20 with 2 firefighters responded to a reported grass fire on Penton Rd. Upon arrival it was determ8ned the fire was a control burn.

At 2:06pm, Ward 6 was dispatched to a grass fire on Ernest Morial Rd for a grass fire threatening structures. Engine 5 responded with 2 firefighters, Houston River responded with an Engine and Brush truck.

At 2:17, Ward 6 was dispatched to 400 blk of Miller Rd for a reported Grass Fire. Service 6 responded with 1 firefighter and Houston River diverted their Engine to assist. Service 8 was released from house fire to respond with 2 firefighters.

At 2:30 pm, Ward 6 Engine 7 and unit 901 were released from house fire in Beauregard to return to the Ward 6 district.

At 2:42pm, Ward 6 was dispatched for a grass fire on Hwy 12 @ J White Rd. Unit 901, Engine 7, Service 6 and 8 responded with 10 firefighters. Houston River Fire left Ernest Morial call and responded with a Brush truck to assist.

At 4:10 pm all fires were out, Ward 6 units returned to stations and back in service. Houston River and DeQuincy Fire were released.
