One Engine 5, Service 8, Unit 901 w/Brush UTV 29, Unit 903 w/ Brush UTV 21 and 10 firefighters responded to Hwy 110 & Hwt 27 in Singer for a mutual aid request from Beauregard Fire Protection District No. 1 in reference to a reignition of the Tiger Island Fire near Singer.
Upon arrival, the fire had jumped Hwy 110 and was moving south toward Hubert Smith rd. Beauregard FD 1 engines and Brush UTVs were actively suppressing fire on Hubert Smith. Ward 6 Engine 5, Bush UTVs 20 and 21 were assigned to Hubert Smith Rd for suppression and to extinguish spot fires occurring on the south side of Hubert Smith Rd. Service 8 was assigned to water shuttle operations along with tankers from BFD1 and Beauregard Parish Fire District 2.
Air assets began dropping retardant and water to assist with containing the fire.
DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department was requested to the scene with a brush utv. HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT was requested to move 3 firefighters to Ward 6 Station 2 to staff Ward 6 trucks for any other emergencies occurring in Ward 6 district.
As of 10:00pm, advance of the fire had been contained. U.S. Forestry, LA. Forestry dozers and ground firefighting teams are on site through the night enhancing containment.
All Ward 6 units released at 10:00pm to return to Ward 6 district. |
