Burn Ban Still in Place |

The state wide burn ban is still in place. Fire conditions the next couple of days is conducive for extreme fire behavior. People are still burning, Please stop until the burn ban is lifted. At 7:51pm, Monday, September 18, 2023, Ward 6 responded to the 200 blk of Kassy Ln for someone burning trash. Upon arrival a trash fire was discovered close to brush. Occupant extinguished the fire and was issued a misdemeanor summons (2nd offense) by CPSO for burning during the burn ban. At 4:33am this morning, Ward 6 responded to a reported fire in the 1000 blk of Hwy 389. Upon arrival, a fire was discovered in the yard. Occupant was burning a pile of copper wire to remove the insulation. Fire was extinguished, CPSO issued a misdemeanor summons for burning during the burn ban. In both cases, items being burned were illegal to burn even if a burn ban was not in place. Be vigilant, thank you to those that have waited and observed the statewide burn ban. |
