Hurricane Recovery is Complete!!!

On August 27, 2020, All stations within the Ward 6 Fire Protection District #1 (Calcasieu Parish) area were damaged by Hurricane Laura This included Station 3 which was destroyed and determined to be unsafe by the US Corp of Engineers. Further damage was incurred approximately 6 weeks later during Hurricane Delta.

The arduous task of drafting repair plans, seeking competitive quotes, working with FEMA, and our Insurance provider seemed insurmountable; however, repairs were completed to all stations and apparatus in a timely manner. Ward 6 was able to continue providing emergency response services with temporary facilities and automatic aid agreements.

Today, June 27, 2024, 3 years and 10 months after station 3 was destroyed we are able to declare that the fire district facilities have all been repaired and the new construction of station 3 completed.

The fire district, the volunteers, and firefighters have all done an amazing job to continue providing services to our community.

While we still will have months or years of paperwork, audits, and review by FEMA and State GOHSEP, Ward 6 Fire has recovered from the physical damages caused by the unprecedented hurricane season of 2020.

Our ribbon cutting at 6:00pm today will mark the finish of rising from the rubble.
