At 1:46am, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One was dispatched to a reported structure fire on Marcantel Road. HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT and DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department were also dispatched as automatic aid. On arrival of Ward 6 Command unit 901 Fire was observed on one end of a mobile home with heavy smoke showing from the windows. Occupants of the home were able to self evacuate prior to arrival of the fire department.
Westlake Fire Department was requested as mutual aid to provide manpower. Beauregard Parish Fire District 2 was requested to move an Engine to Ward 6 Fire station 2 for coverage of Ward 6 District. Ward 5 Fire was requested to move an Engine to DeQuincy Fire station to cover the City of DeQuincy. Acadian Ambulance also responded to monitor firefighters in rehab.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire and no injuries occurred on scene to responding personnel. Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
At 6:16 am, Ward 6 responded to a reported single vehicle crash on Hwy 12 at Cooper Road. On arrival of Command Unit 903, a vehicle was observed in a drainage lateral near the railroad tracks on the south side of Hwy 12. The driver was extricated by firefighters using extrication tools and transported to the hospital by Acadian Ambulance. DeQuincy Fire also responded as mutual aid to provide assistance. |
