At 12:59 pm, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One responded to a mutual aid request from Beauregard Parish Fire District 2 for a fire along Hwy 171 across from the South Beauregard School.

Command Unit 901, Brush 21, Brush 22, and Service 8 responded with 6 firefighters. On arrival , Command assigned South Operations to Command unit 901. Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry was also requested to respond.

Ward 6 Service 8 worked to create a wet line fire break along a lease road behind a housing subdivision. Brush UTV's were used to monitor the fire line as the fire approached to prevent the fire from threatening the subdivision. Firefighters contained the fire and it was controlled by the lease road and wet fire line.

Forestry dozers also plowed containment lines around the fire area. There will be smoke in the area for a while as numerous stumps and logs are smoldering in the burn area.

The fire started when a motorist lost a wheel that was hot enough to start the fire in the dry grass along the road.
