Training on rescue jacks

By Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One
June 28, 2022

Ward Six Firefighters conducted training this evening on the use of rescue and stabilization jack systems.
We recently utilized these jacks on an overturned vehicle that required extrication of the driver. The jack systems are awesome tools to stabilize vehicles and even walls or ceilings of homes in a rescue situation to keep them from collapsing.
Several years ago, we used them to hold up a structure’s roof to keep it from collapsing on a vehicle while it was removed by a wrecker. The vehicle had left the roadway and crashed into someone’s home.
We are always training to familiarize ourselves with new techniques of firefighting, rescue, hazmat, vehicle extrication and other situations that we respond to.
