is fortunate to have such a dedicated group of men and women to respond to emergencies when called upon.
Ward 6 Fire has 1 Captain and 1 Firefighter that staff the station during weekday hours, they are supplemented by 1 to 2 part time firefighters each week day. There are 16 volunteer firefighters that dedicate their time to training and responding when they are not working full time jobs.
Many of the volunteer firefighters do no live in the fire district and dedicate themselves to responding and training in order to help the citizens within our fire district.
During 2022, these brave men and women responded to 580 calls for service in order to protect their fellow citizens and property. In general, most of the volunteers are not recognized for the amount of time they commit away from their families in order to serve others in their most desperate hours.
As the fire chief of Ward 6 Fire Department, I want to give each of them a heartfelt thank you for their dedication to the community and their service with pride, teamwork, and excellence.
In recognition of each of the firefighters, Ward 6 will recognize a firefighter each week with a brief biography and introduce you to the ones dedicated to responding to emergencies in our community.
Lets make this firefighter appreciation year, instead of appreciation day. If you see a volunteer in the community, thank them for their service.
