Like all of you, we look forward to cleaning our yards and burning our limbs and leaves. Our area has a deficit of approximately 17 inches of rain this year.

The drought conditions still exist, below are rainfall totals across the Ward 6 Fire Protection District in Calcasieu Parish over the past 30 days.

Buxton Creek @ Grand Ave =0.48" rain
(30 day total)

Buxton Creek @ Douglas Rd.= 0.52" rain
(30 day total)

Buxton Creek @ Hwy 27 = 0.36" rain
(30 day total )

Buxton Creek @ Rt. 66 = 0.51" rain
(30 day total)

Buxton Creek @ Bud Bennett = 0.48" rain
(30 day total)

Lower West Fork Buxton Creek @ West St.
= 0.59" rain (30 day total)

Lateral 24 @ Hwy 389 Hargroves = 0.39" rain (30 day total)

Coward Gully @ Edgerly rd = 0.40" rain
(30 day total)

Cypress Creek @ Holbrook Park rd. = 0.60" rain (30 day total)

Little River @ Holbrook Park Rd = 0.38" rain
(30 day total)

West Fork @ Holbrook Park = 0.35" rain
(30 day total)

Little River @ Bankens Rd = 0.41" rain
(30 day total)

Houston River @ Anthony Ferry Rd = 0.28" rain (30 day total)

Houston River @ Hwy 27 = 0.43" rain
(30 day total)

West Fork @ Dunn Ferry Rd = 0.12" rain
(30 day total)

We need more rain which is predicted over the next couple of days. The burn ban is still in place and rainfall data is being monitored. The Louisiana State Fire Marshal and Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will make a decision in the future on the status of the burn ban.
