One responded as automatic aid with DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department to a reported structure fire in a closed car wash behind a business in the 600 blk of East 4th st.

Upon arrival fire was observed com8ng from the car wash with fire spreading in the grass of a nearby residential structure. The fire was quickly extinguished by firefighters from both departments.

Investigation revealed the fire was accidentally started by a portable heater being used by a homeless individual. The individual was transported to the hospital by Acadian Ambulance with minor injuries.
