| m., which temporarily closed Highway 27 at High Hope Road until 11:00 p.m., we have been coordinating closely with the pipeline project team to assess the situation.
As the responding agency, we confirmed with the contractor overseeing the project that the material found on the roadway was non-hazardous drill mud, which poses no threat to people, wildlife, or the environment.
To assist those whose vehicles may have come into contact with the debris, the contractor has partnered with Mike’s Express Car Wash City Service location at 223 N. City Service Highway in Sulphur, to offer a free car wash. Car wash passes will be available for pickup today from 4:00pm-6:00pm at the Ward 6 Fire Station #3, located at 3533 Highway 27 North Sulphur.
The contractor has also partnered with our department to support remediation efforts stemming from the event. The project team continues to coordinate closely with the contractor and appropriate regulatory agencies to ensure a thorough investigation of the incident. |
