| At 1:28pm HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT was dispatched to assist CPSO in locating an injured elderly male along Houston River. Ward 6 Fire was requested with an UTV for patient transport.
Upon arrival firefighters made verbal contact with the patient to identify his location. The only access to extract patient was by water. Westlake Fire Department was requested to respond with Marine 1 rescue boat. Firefighters accessed the patient by foot and provided medical care until the arrival of the boat.
The patient was transported by boat to a private boat launch and medical care turned over to Acadian Ambulance. Patient was transported to a local hospital.
This is a great example of how departments work together in our area. Responding departments included: Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Houston River Fire, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One, Westlake Fire, and Acadian Ambulance. The dispatchers at Calcasieu Parish E911 did an amaz8ng job coordinating the radio traffic on a successful rescue. |
