| At 9:30 a.m., Ward 6 Fire responded to a mutual aid request from Ward 5 Fire for an equipment fire at and industrial facility on Hwy 12 near mile marker 13.
Upon arrival of Unit 901, smoke was observed from a filter house and an enclosed area of the product conveyor system. Incident Command was established and industry personnel provided directives on accessing the burning equipment.
Ward 5 Engine arrived on scene and defensive cooling operations were started. Ward 6 Engine 5 was assigned to water supply and tankers from Ward 5, Ward 6, and HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT were used to shuttle water from a static water supply on the property.
Westlake Fire Department was requested to respond with a ladder truck to access the top of the elevated filter house.
Firefighters extinguished the fire, conducted overhaul if the area to prevent any smoldering items from reigniting.
An all clear was given and all departments cleared the scene at approximately 12:15pm. |
