At 12:26pm today, Ward 6 Fire was dispatched to a woods fire on Bud Bennett Rd
By Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One
November 9, 2025
Upon arrival, approximately 25 acres of woods was burning, with flames burning in the tops of the trees. Mutual aid was requested and received from Houston River FD, DeQuincy FD, Ward 5 FD and Beauregard FD2. CPSO units and fire trucks were also set up on Bud Bennett for traffic control due to heavy smoke. Forestry was also contacted to respond. Firefighters utilized brush trucks and fire dept UTVs, and the property owner also plowed wide lanes on the south side of the fire to contain it until Forestry arrived. Double fire lanes were plowed by Forestry dozers around the perimeter and the fire is 100% contained. Property owner will be patrolling the fire lanes to ensure the fire doesn’t spread. There will be smoke in the area for the next several hours and possibly overnight. Thank you to all of our Ward 6 Firefighters, our mutual aid departments and to 911 dispatch for a job well done.
