At 1:21pm, Ward 6 Fire responded to a mutual aid request from Beauregard Parish Fire District 2 for a reported grass fire threatening structures.
On arrival of Command Unit 901, the grass fire closest to a structure was contained; however, strong winds had pushed the fire into a heavily wooded area. Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry was requested for tractor plows. Beauregard FD 2 and Ward 6 engines set up to protect vulnerable structures.
Brush UTV's from Bearegard FD 2, Ward 6 Fire, and Beauregard Parish Fire District 4 wete used to contain the fire until LDAF arrived to plow containment lines. The fire burned approx. 75 acres. No structures were damaged and all Ward 6 units were back in district at 6:30pm.
HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT provided an Engine company to cover Ward 6 District while we assisted in Beauregard Parish. |
