| On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Ward Six Fire Protection District No. One hosted a training drill at CERTC involving the following departments. DeQuincy Volunteer Fire Department, HOUSTON RIVER FIRE DEPARTMENT Iowa Volunteer Fire Department, Hackberry Volunteer Fire, Beauregard Parish Fire District 2.
Approximately 40 firefighters attended the drill training on Responding to Pipeline Emergencies.. The class instructor was Bo Gieger,and ExxonMobil Pipeline Company supplied a mobile training prop for the hands on training drills. Exxon also sponsored the meal for all responders that attended.
The classroom portion of the class taught responders the information needed when responding to a possible pipeline incident, locating emergency contact numbers, and identifying products in the pipeline. The hands on portion of the class placed firefighters in a real world simulation of responding to a pipeline emergency involving a Carbon Dioxide release. Responders used monitors, emergency response guide, and tactical response plan to implement a response. Incident Command was established and all positions of the IMS were filled during the training exercise. |
